Professtional background:

Ian was brought up on a family farm near New Luce in Wigtownshire, which he now farms in partnership with his wife Hayley. He farms 700 Scottish Blackface ewes and a small herd of Galloway cattle. Ian studied at SAC Auchincruive and graduated in 2002 with an honour's degree in Agriculture. Following this he travelled to Australia and New Zealand to work on farms. Ian then worked for a short spell with the Department of Agriculture before returning to work on local farms and then taking over the farm at home and neighbouring uncle's farm.

Outside of work:

Ian enjoys spending time on the farm with Hayley and their Son Ramsay and, when time allows, getting away from the farm for short breaks. He also enjoys looking after Ramsay's pedigree Beltex ewes and preparing them for shows and sales along with the Blackface sheep.
