Alasdair Allan, January promotion for dynamic young Land Agent at Davidson & Robertson

Alasdair Allan, Land Agent at Davidson & Robertson (D&R), has been promoted to Senior Associate in recognition of his utility work responsibilities.

Alasdair joined D&R, the firm of rural surveyors and consultants, three years ago, and now acts as Land Agent focusing on infrastructure and utility work. His promotion to Senior Associate recognises the experience he has gained, the increasing level of responsibility and the support he provides to the growing utilities team.

Utilities was the first sector Alasdair first joined, and he really embraced it, deciding to specialise in utility work where his agricultural background has been a real asset. He now supports a growing number of clients with their claims and issues and looks after a multitude of projects from simple access agreements to managing multi-infrastructure schemes.

Ian Austin, Director and Head of Utilities, Energy & Infrastructure said “Alasdair gets things done and client interests are always top priority. He has great attention to detail and instils confidence in his clients. Talking the right language is important, so it is a real asset that Alasdair has a very practical Honours degree in Agriculture from SRUC and has been involved in helping their family farm diversify. He also has a very pragmatic outlook which helps when negotiating on behalf of his clients.

“Moving forward Alasdair will be taking on more responsibility and will also be helping develop our utilities team which is constantly growing to meet the demands of Scotland’s sustainable energy goals.”

Alasdair said “Having a farming background gives me a practical and more empathetic viewpoint which certainly helps, but it is also important to keep abreast of what’s happening in the industry and changes to legislation as well as having a good understanding of what’s happening on each project.

“Some larger projects can last over a decade, we are often involved from beginning to end and can help police the project if it is not running as agreed. Whilst clients can face similar issues, every farm, every farmer and every project is different and I enjoy the variety.  It’s important to understand what the priorities and prospects are for everyone involved in our clients’ businesses and ensure their assets are protected throughout.”

Alasdair can be contacted in the Edinburgh office at 0131 449 6212 or by email at AJA@drrural.co.uk.
