Alasdair Allan, Associate Director, has outlined the most recent changes to infrastructure projects across Scotland and Northern England – including new ones in the pipeline.
Aberdeenshire:
Kintore – Tealing new 400kV line. The final route for this project has been outlined, but is now subject to a public enquiry, which is likely to create uncertainty for a longer period. We are supporting clients who are taking a pragmatic view, aiming for voluntary agreements on the understanding that new infrastructure is needed. In recent months, we have doubled the number of clients affected by the project and are working against Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) to address landowners’ practical concerns.
Beauly – Peterhead new 400kV line. Currently in the consenting process, we have clients who have been served the 21-day notices to allow the statutory process to commence.
If you are affected, please get in touch. Contact our Aberdeen office on 01224 933800.
South West Scotland
Kendoon to Tongland 132kV Reinforcement (KTR) Project A significant legal challenge Injurious affection claims are in progress for our clients ahead of a start date for the works, which is yet to be confirmed.
A75 upgrade – Crockletford and Springholm. This project received £11 million funding from Transport Scotland to conduct surveys. Work includes drilling test pits and bore holes across three possible routes. We advise clients to fully engage with the works, especially for discussions around existing drains, tracks and access, as well as agreements on rights and responsibilities during the project. If you are affected, contact our offices in Castle Douglas 01556 502270 or Ayr 01292 265851
Cross Border Connection project (Galashiels to Cumbria)
We have provided feedback to SP Energy Networks SPEN on behalf of Scottish clients and across the border, and in Cumbria, we are now engaging with landowners who may be affected.
