SAYFC Tug of War preview

SAYFC’s will be pulling for the team in the national Tug of War final

Vying for the top spot in the SAYFC Tug of War national finals at the Royal Highland Show this weekend will include title holders Ayr YFC ladies and Carluke YFC men’s tug of war teams.

Saturday’s final will once again reflect the jewels in the crown of National SAYFC Tug of War and is set to be a colourful spectacle and a noisy, passionate affair.

The Tug of War returns to the show after an absence of two years due to covid. The 2022 event sees a huge rivalry between young farmer’s clubs.  In 2019, Ayr ladies won their final pull to be crowned champions again after many successive victories in the past.

Commenting on the forthcoming event Derek Bathgate, Ayr based Director at Davidson & Robertson said “We are really looking forward to seeing the tug of war take place after a two year absence. SAYFC is a fantastic movement nurturing rural leaders and farmers of the future. As event sponsors, we wanted to reflect the energy and the strength of young farmers #pullingfortheteam with a vibrant team kit – it makes for a very colourful competition. The final is always epic, with huge noise from supporters and the absolute power and determination the teams leave on the field. We wish all the teams good luck and are excited to see who will come away with the crowns this year.

The social media hashtag #pullingfortheteam has become a real talking point and has helped build momentum around the event.

The ringside will be packed with past, present and future young farmers, together with their families, watching the twenty teams take part. The results and videos will be available early next week.
